Protecting Pedestrians at new Canal Bridge

Location: Dublin, Ireland
Dublin’s Ratoath Road Realignment and Over-bridge Project saw the installation of a new bridge over the Dublin to Sligo railway line and the Royal Canal between Cabra and Finglas.
A major part of the works was designing and installing pedestrian restraint systems that would guide and direct people safely along the footpaths, walkways and ramps up and over the busy structure, keeping them safe from vehicular traffic and other hazards. We worked with the client to manufacture railings that were fully compliant with BS: 7818 class 2 and 3C, in a range of designs and finishes. One of the challenges on a project of this scale was the sequencing of installation and we worked closely with the main contractor over a 12 month period in delivering this as sections of the work were released. Emtek have over 20 years’ experience in this area, developing and implementing safety solutions for urban, highway and national infrastructure projects.
