Improving Pedestrian Safety in Sligo

Location: Sligo, Ireland
With the busy N4 carriageway running through the centre of Sligo, keeping pedestrians safe was a key factor in the junction improvements scheme at Hughes Bridge.
Our team worked with the client to design and install new safety railings that would match the existing aesthetics of the town’s original railings, but bring them up to the latest safety standards, BS: 7818. Our Pedestrian Guard Rails were designed to accommodate a series of plinths that were raked and curved, along with traffic islands and crossing points. Manufactured from steel and then hot dip galvanised to BS EN ISO 1461, the panels were then painted green, providing a smart and robust solution. We also provided railings for the bridges and walkways as part of an overall package. Emtek have over 20 years’ experience in this area, developing and implementing safety solutions for urban, highway and national infrastructure projects.
