- Project Title: Airdrie to Bathgate Rail
Link Project, Scotland
The Challenge: Provide High Containment
Bridge Parapet and Safety Barrier systems for
the construction of 20 new bridges and access
roads linking the railway route between Glasgow
and Edinburgh.
The Solution: Emtek provided their Very
High Containment H4a & N2 Protect 365 Steel
Parapets to offer containment for the main
structures, ensuring vehicles are safely
re-directed away from the track. Our VT-100
Transitions provided the link from the parapets
to our N2 Safety Barriers and Terminals, with
our Contracts and Production teams working
closely with the Network Rail and the principle
contractor to ensure the scheme was delivered on
schedule and on budget. The line will be the
longest new mainline passenger railway with
stations in Britain for over a century and will
bring with it social, economic and environmental
benefits for the local community, as well as
providing an alternative to the already
overcrowded M8.

- Project Title: Ballygowan Housing Scheme,
Co. Antrim
The Challenge: Provide cost effective
roofing solution to new multi-unit housing
development outside Belfast.
The Solution: Emtek provided a durable
concrete roof tile, on a non breathable
underlay. With dry fix ridge, hip and verge also
being used on the scheme, this helped reduce
future maintenance to the new home owners. As
well as providing all the lead flashing work, a
total of 40 No. houses were completed by our
team in this first phase.

- Project Title: Belfast City Hall
The Challenge: Provide elegant telescopic
bollards to control access to Belfast’s landmark
City Hall building.
The Solution: Emtek provided bespoke
crafted City 02 bollards, manufactured from a
robust steel core with a detailed city crest
moulded to the outer sleeve. With major public
events hosted within the grounds of this iconic
building, the council required an elegant
bollard solution. Our team worked closely with
the council and designed, manufactured and
installed the bollards to this brief. We also
provide a routine maintenance service to ensure
the locks and mechanisms are performing well.

- Project Title: A71 Irvine Bridge, North
Ayrshire
The Challenge: Provide Parapets to
landmark bridge.
The Solution: Emtek provided their N2
Steel Parapets across the bespoke structure,
protecting vehicles from striking the bridge
supports. Our EN: 1317 approved system was then
joined seamlessly to our approved transitions,
providing the link to our N2 Safety Barriers and
Terminals. Our Contracts and Production teams
liaised closely with the principle contractor
and consultants to ensure the road restraint
systems harmonised with the overall scheme
design.

- Project Title: Wilson Country Food
Factory, Co. Armagh
The Challenge: Provide robust protection
to cladding and loading bays of new factory and
distribution centre.
The Solution: Emtek provided their
Industrial Safety Barrier’s throughout the
potato warehouse, using surface mounted posts
bolted to the concrete floor. This allowed quick
installation to protecting the cladding,
stanchions and loading areas of the building,
whilst making it easy to replace future damage
from any fork truck strikes. All our industrial
components are manufactured under strict quality
controlled environment and are hot dip
galvanised to BS EN ISO 1461.

- Project Title: Lurgan & Portadown Public
Realm Works
The Challenge: Provide high quality
streetscape materials for town centre’s urban
regeneration scheme.
The Solution: Emtek provided their BS:
7533 compliant Ultrascape cementitious materials
after successfully completing trials to ensure
suitability of the products with the paving
sets. Supplied in convenient 25kg bags and also
20T silo’s, ensured the correct mix of
pre-blended material was readily available.
Being fully compliant with the required BS: 7533
(part 12), it was ideal for areas requiring
rapid trafficking or weekend works. It is hoped
that these two County Armagh market towns will
see a new lease of life with the regeneration
works as shoppers will be attracted back into
the towns and encouraged to stay with new cafe
style wide paving sections being constructed.

- Project Title: North Lanarkshire Bridge
Improvement Scheme
The Challenge: Provide Very High
Containment Bridge Parapet system to railway
bridge in busy residential area.
The Solution: Emtek provided their Very
High Containment H4a & N2 Steel Parapets to
protect local residential vehicles from straying
onto the newly upgraded railway track below in
the town of Airdrie, North Lanarkshire. Working
closely with both the local council and
Transport Scotland railway requirements, our
team manufactured and installed the parapets to
exacting standards and with minimal disruption
to local residents.

- Project Title: Stranmillis Wharf, Belfast
The Challenge: Replacement roofing works
to 5 storey high city centre apartment block.
The Solution: Emtek provided a full roof
tile investigation, project management, scaffold
edge protection and re-roofing service to this
five storey high apartment roof. The roof
covering, comprising of damaged Cambrian Slates,
were stripped from the roof and disposed of by
our experienced team of roof slaters. The valley
lay boards and lead were replaced, prior to the
2,000 new Cambrian Slates being fitted. The
existing hip and ridge line were also replaced
using Dry Fix products with all work completed
to exacting specifications by the tile
manufacturers. Emtek’s roofing division carries
out remedial and new works contracts to
multi-unit residential developments for both
public and private sector clients.

- Project Title: Girvan Community Hospital,
Scotland
The Challenge: Provide robust protection
to service road within new state of the art NHS
facility.
The Solution: Emtek provided their
Industrial Safety Barrier’s along the main
service road to the rear of the modern
eco-facility. Adjacent to a grass and sand based
roadway, our barriers provide perimeter
protection to NHS service vehicles and help
minimise potential damage from strikes to the
boundary fences. Manufactured from steel that
can in the future be recycled, they also have a
highly durable galvanised finish offering low
maintenance for the facility managers.

- Project Title: Derry City Centre
Public Realm Scheme
The Challenge: Provide fast setting
bedding concretes, mortars and grouts for
16,000m² of natural stone paving to busy city
centre regeneration project, requiring rapid
trafficking of urban precincts.
The Solution: Emtek provided their
Ultrascape cementitious materials, pre-blended
in 20T silo’s and also in convenient 25kg bags.
Being fully compliant with the required BS: 7533
(part 12), it was ideal for areas requiring
rapid trafficking or weekend works. The
historical walled city of Derry required the
full complement of Emtek Ultrascape materials,
from our Pro-Prime slurry primer and Pro-Bed HS
bedding concrete, to our Flow-Point rapid
setting flowable grout system. Our ability to
provide technical site support and carry buffer
stocks of materials at our warehouse proved
invaluable during busy periods of high output
paving.

- Project Title: N52 Tullamore By-Pass, Co.
Offaly
The Challenge: Provide High Containment
Bridge Parapet and Safety Barrier systems for
the construction of a new 15 kilometre stretch
of carriageway through the midlands region of
Ireland.
The Solution: Emtek provided their Very High
Containment H4a & N2 Protect 365 Steel Parapets
to offer containment for the main Dublin-Athlone
Railway Line, across 6 structures. These were
joined seamlessly to our VT-100 Transitions,
providing the link to our N2 Safety Barriers and
Terminals. Our Contracts and Production teams
worked closely with the main contractor to
ensure the scheme was delivered 10 months ahead
of schedule and on budget. In total some 9
kilometres of Road Restraint Systems were
manufactured and installed by Emtek.

- Project Title: Carrigart Housing Scheme,
Co. Armagh
The Challenge: Provide cost effective
roofing system to new housing development.
The Solution: Emtek provided a durable
concrete interlocking roof tile, on a non
breathable underlay. With dry fix ridge, hip and
verge also being used on the scheme, this
eliminated the requirement for future mortar
maintenance to these areas. Eave ventilation was
also supplied and fitted by our experienced
installers, as was the provision of all required
Lead Flashings to the roofs. In total 7 No.
houses were completed with this system and
additional value added to the client as we also
installed the Road Restraint Systems required on
the site, highlighting our ability to provide
integrated construction and infrastructure
solutions.
