  • Harland & Wolff is the setting for one of our Industrial projects this month. Based in Belfast Docks, we will be providing a composite concrete and steel barrier system, specially designed for their Dry Dock. When completed, the new barrier will provide enhanced safety for the staff responsible for securing ships and marine vessels at the dock, ready to undergo refurbishment and engineering works.
     
  • Our Highway Team have been awarded a Bridge Upgrade project on the M4, Cellbridge, Co. Kildare. The scheme encompasses the project management, traffic management, temporary barrier provision, edge protection, removal and disposal of the old Parapet and the installation of a new EN: 1317 approved Parapet. By working closely with the National Roads Authority and Kildare County Council we have been able to offer a one stop shop solution. November 2009

  • NHS Girvan Community Hospital is the setting for one of our Industrial projects this month. We will be installing our robust Industrial Safety Barrier’s around the service yard of this new state of the art facility, protecting walls and services from reversing vehicles. Renowned as one of south west Scotland’s unspoilt seaside towns, this new Hospital will open in February 2010 with a host of environmental and renewable energy technologies. We are delighted to have been selected to work on this innovative project.
     
  • Our Highway Team have been awarded a bridge upgrade scheme in Irvine, Ayrshire. We will be providing a full suite of EN: 1317 approved road restraint systems including Parapets, Transitions, Safety Barriers and Terminals. Situated on the busy A71, our team will also be installing Pedestrian Guard Rails to BS: 7818.   • Our maintenance free Shannon 03 Bollards are being supplied by our Urban Team this month to the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast. Serving half a million patients each year the health trust needed a bollard that was strong and durable, yet attractive and easy to maintain.   • Bushmills Irish Whiskey in Co. Antrim is the setting for one of our Industrial Safety Barrier projects this month. Providing robust protection to a new factory extension, our safety barrier will be protecting vehicle movement around this world famous 400 year old distillery.   • We have been awarded a comprehensive infrastructure package on the new Wicklow Port Access & Town Relief Road scheme. An important part of the regions development plan, we will be providing EN: 1317 Approved Parapets, Transitions and Safety Barriers. Included in the scope of works is the provision of a specialist high containment steel bridge parapet linking into a concrete parapet over a railway line. This award highlights our ability to deliver our clients with streamlined procurement of multiple products from one source.

  • The London Borough of Ealing is the location for one of our Street Furniture schemes this month. We were given the task of providing a robust yet functional bench that could be installed across the West London borough and it was our City 20 design that was selected. Made with solid hardwood boards and ductile cast iron uprights, this simple yet elegantly designed bench is ideal for modern urban centres.   • Our Highway Team are completing a Safety Barrier scheme in County Louth this month, using our EN: 1317 Approved N2 systems on a new regional road upgrade project. As our installation process is third party verified and accredited with the National Highway Sector Scheme Approval 2B, you can be assured of the quality of our work.
     
  • Pollock Dock, Belfast is the setting for the handover of one of our Industrial projects. Located near the famous Titanic Quarter, we have installed heavy duty bollards and safety barriers to protect the cladding and doorways of a new distribution warehouse. Working to strict client deadlines, it was our ability to fast-track the manufacture of bespoke posts that was key to our project award.

  • Delivery of our Ultrascape systems is well underway in Derry this month after our Urban Team were awarded the Derry City Centre Public Realm Project. Our BS: 7533 compliant concretes, mortars and grouts will be used to bed and joint the 10,000m squared paved precincts. Our ability to provide 20 Tonne refillable silos of pre-blended bedding concrete was key to enabling fast track installation whilst maintaining strict quality and performance standards.   • Our passively safe lighting columns are to be used in Cork this month as part of an infrastructure improvements scheme on the busy N20 carriageway. Our new Kapu columns are crash friendly and save the requirement for traditional road restraint systems to be installed, helping to improve road safety whilst reducing the long term maintenance costs to the local authority.   • Bellshill, North Lanarkshire is the setting for one of our Industrial Team projects this month. We will be installing Industrial Safety Barriers at a new supermarket, providing protection to the building, car park and service bay areas.   • Our Highway Team have been awarded a Railway Bridge upgrade project in Airdrie, North Lanarkshire. Using our Very High Containment H4a Parapet this will bring the old structure up to the latest performance standards required on railway structures. Our approved transitions will also be used on the scheme ensuring a seamless system is installed.
     
  • We are closed for our annual holiday shut down for the weeks commencing 13th & 20th July, re-opening Monday 27th July.

  • The handover of a fully restored historical bridge will take place this month in Gilford. After several months of detailed design and refurbishment work we are delighted to have been involved in the upgrade of Whites Bridge, Gilford (Co. Armagh). This is a 100 year old listed structure and Emtek worked closely with DRD Roads Service and NIEA to provide an up to date Bridge Parapet, whilst ensuring the aesthetic finish was in keeping with the local environment.   • Our new Flowpoint ECO Rapid Setting Grout is being used on a streetscape project in Belfast. Using 20% recycled glass; this is the first scheme in Ireland to use this innovative product. Conforming to the demands of BS: 7533 parts 5 & 12, our rapid setting ECO grout reduces the amount of virgin aggregate normally required, whilst maintaining the same high levels of performance and durability.   • Our Industrial Team are involved in a number of projects in Co. Londonderry this month. Ranging from the provision of Tubular Hand Rails at a local reservoir to heavy duty Safety Barriers at City of Derry Airport, our ability to react quickly to customer demands and provide tailor made solutions from our manufacturing facility has led to continued project awards in this sector.

  • Coventry is the setting for one of our Street Furniture projects this month. Our Urban Team have been awarded the supply of our Antrim range of cycle hoops and stands for the new purpose built headquarters of the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority. Emtek’s ability to service this contract from our new Manchester depot and supported by our national distribution hub in Lurgan was key to our project award.
     
  • Work is nearing completion this month on a Safety Barrier contract for DBFO 2 (Scheme 1) in Northern Ireland. This project forms an important link road into the Republic of Ireland. Using our EN: 1317 approved N2 Safety Barriers, our teams have been installing both driven and excavated post systems to meet the requirements of the ground conditions.
     
  • Our Pedestrian Guard Rails continue to be widely used with a number of contracts being installed across the greater Belfast region this month. Designed to BS: 7818, our hot dip galavanised modular panels are a cost effective method of safely guiding pedestrians who are adjacent to road crossing points.   • Work is due to commence this month on a series of Bridge Parapet projects throughout the County Fermanagh region. Using our HA approved N2 Parapets we will be upgrading a number of structures to the latest EN: 1317 standards. The schemes will also incorporate our approved Parapet Transitions and N2 Safety Barrier’s, offering a fully approved suite of Road Restraint Systems to EN: 1317.
     
  • Belfast Model School for Girls is the setting of one of our Industrial projects, providing Vehicular Restraint Systems within the new school grounds. First opened in 1954, this ICT Specialist School is undergoing extensive investment with our safety barrier’s forming part of the internal car park and roadway infrastructure.
     
  • We are closed over Easter from the week commencing 13th April, re-opening Monday 20th April. We would like to wish all our customers a pleasant Easter break.

March 2009

  • Work has commenced on a major H4a Parapet project this month in Limerick. Our highway team are manufacturing and installing one of the longest very high containment parapets ever seen in Ireland. The works are part of our on-going contract with the Limerick Tunnel PPP consortium and this latest package focus’ on protection of railway structures.
     
  • We have been awarded the supply and installation of 23,000m of Safety Barrier on a new mainline national route linking Dublin to Waterford. Forming a key link in the National Development Plan, work will continue throughout 2009 and into early 2010.
     
  • You can meet us this month at Dublin’s Road Expo & Civilex Exhibition on 24th & 25th March. Being held at the RDS, you will have the opportunity to meet our sales team and view many of our products; parapets, transitions, safety barriers and BBA HAPAS approved ironwork reinstatement systems. We will also be displaying our new passively safe sign support system.

  • Our Urban Team have been awarded a street furniture scheme in Co. Down. Dromore Viaduct Park runs alongside the River Lagan and will feature benches and bins from our Wicklow Range.
     
  • Co. Mayo is the location of one of our Highway Infrastructure projects this month. We are carrying out bridge parapet upgrades and repairs, an area of considerable expertise within the company. Being able to offer bespoke solutions was key to our successful project award.
     
  • Our Industrial Team are engaged in a new Industrial Safety Barrier project in Belfast. Located on the south side of the city our team will be protecting drivers, pedestrians and property within the car park area. Emtek can provide both surface mounted and excavated safety barrier solutions, with a full consultancy, manufacture and installation service.   • Work is underway on the prestigious M50 Upgrade Project (Phase 1) in Dublin this month. Providing pedestrian parapets on footbridges and access ramps over this busy motorway, our ability to deliver a fast-track design, manufacturing and installation service was key to our successful contract award.   • Our Urban Team have been awarded two new Streetscape projects in Kilkenny and Belfast. The BS 7533 (part 12) compliant bedding concretes, primers and flowable grouts are being used for major regeneration schemes for busy paved areas. By carrying Ultrascape material ex-stock we are able to ensure a rapid delivery service to our clients sites, an important requirement for these new projects.
