- This month sees the launch of our new
Passively Safe Sign Posts. Designed to offer the
occupants of a vehicle maximum safety upon
impact, our sign supports also reduce the need
for road restraint systems commonly required to
protect road side signage. This can offer
significant savings in both capital and
maintenance costs. To find out about recently

- We have been awarded a comprehensive
infrastructure package on the new N9/N10 Carlow
to Kilcullen (Phase 3) project. An important
part of the National Development Plan, we will
be providing EN: 1317 Approved Parapets,
Transitions and Safety Barriers to all 24 No.
Structures. As one of Ireland’s biggest roads
projects this award highlights our ability to
deliver contractors with streamlined procurement
of multiple products from one source. Work will
commence this autumn and will continue
throughout 2009.
- Waterford and Limerick are the latest cities
to adopt our Ultrascape products. The BS 7533
(part 12) compliant bedding concretes, primers
and flowable grouts are being used for both
vehicle and pedestrian zones within busy paved
areas of the cities. Please contact us to

August 2008
- Our new range of Storm Water Tanks is
continuing to prove a success with local
engineers and contractors. Downpatrick Cinema
(Co. Down) is the location of our latest scheme
where the ease of future maintenance and
fast-track installation benefits has been
recognised. Our prefabricated steel tanks are
hot dip galvanised and can have additional
protective treatments for corrosive ground

- Dublin Airport is the setting for one of our
Pedestrian Guard Rail projects this month. We
are providing specialist panels with an
aesthetically pleasing white painted finish to
aid pedestrian safety within the airport. Our
Pedestrian Guard Rail products are BS: 7818
compliant and available ex-stock.
- We have been awarded a Parapet package on
the prestigious Limerick Tunnel project, with
work now ready to commence on site. Our EN: 1317
approved N2 Parapets will provide a passively
safe system, combining both vehicle and
pedestrian protection. All our parapets are
manufactured to exacting standards at our
purpose built facility in Co. Armagh.

- Installation of our Industrial Tubular Hand
Rail system is underway in Midleton, Co. Cork.
Using our robust post-2-rail clamp system this
scheme will provide pedestrian safety along a
series of new retaining walls being constructed
for Irish Rail.
- Rathlin Island is the setting of one of our
contracts this month, for the installation of
our Timber Safety Barrier along some of the
cliff edge roads. Fully approved to EN: 1317
this scheme will improve safety for tourist
vehicles who visit the island throughout the
year. Rathlin Island is 6 miles north of
Ballycastle, County Antrim, and 14 miles from
the Mull of Kintyre, Scotland.
- We are closed for our annual holiday shut
down for the week commencing 14th July,
re-opening Monday 21st July.

- We have completed the first installation of
our new VT-100 Transitions in Belfast this
month. The EN: 1317 approved transitions link
our N2 Parapet and N2 Safety Barrier together
with an economical and proven system. The
benefits of this transition is its fast
installation time due to the minimal number of
posts and connector components required.
- Technical Sales Director Neil McKee has been
appointed Managing Director of Emtek, effective
2nd June. Neil has been involved in the business
for over 10 years and has been at the core of
the business growth strategy. Company founder
Eddie McKee will continue to play an active role
and remain on the board of Directors.
- We have moved premises to a new purpose
built facility in Lurgan, Co. Armagh. The new
site draws together several depots and will
enable increased efficiency and further
expansion of the business. A larger
manufacturing capability has also been gained
along with more spacious offices. Please view

- We have been awarded supply of our
Streetscape system for the prestigious Armagh
Urban Regeneration Project, commencing this
summer. Comprising over 14,000 square metres of
paving our BS 7533 (part 12) compliant bedding
concretes, primers and flowable grouts will be
used for both vehicle and pedestrian zones. This
is our largest streetscape scheme to date and
confirms our ability to deliver competitive
quality products for Ireland’s largest urban
regeneration projects.
- Coca Cola are in the final stages of
building their new bottling plant in Lisburn and
Emtek were chosen to supply and install our
Industrial Safety Barriers in the facility.
Offering a fast-track installation service and
components ex-stock was key to the success of
this project.
- Ireland and UK leading supermarket Tesco has
just taken another delivery of our Antrim range
of stainless steel bollards in preparation of
their new store opening in Co. Offaly. Our
bollards offer a maintenance free finish and are
manufactured from recycled materials.

- Work has been completed at the new Tesco
Springhill store in Bangor, Co. Down. Emtek
installed a new car park safety barrier system
from our Industrial range. The scheme also
required bollards and height restrictors,
supplied and installed by our team.
- DBFO 1, Belfast is one the countries largest
infrastructure projects and Emtek have begun a
bridge parapet upgrade package on the M2. The
work scope involves the provision of new
retro-fit anchors and both N1 and N2 parapets.
The project is likely to run for a year.
- Our Urban range of street furniture has been
chosen for a prestigious housing scheme in Co.
Antrim this month. Thaxton Mill is part of a new
development for the north side Lisburn city and
our ability to supply ex-stock was a major boost
for the contractor. Emtek have already supplied
a range of telescopic bollards for residents
driveways and to identify parking bays within
the scheme.

March 2008
- Minister for Transport Noel Dempsey, TD met
our Sales Team at the Road Expo & Civilex event
in Dublin this month. Mr Dempsey spoke at length
to Neil McKee, Technical Sales Director about
the Ultracrete Ironwork Reinstatement products
and passive safety N2 W1 Vetex Safety Barrier
products on display at the show. In addition,
Emtek were presented with the ‘Best Exhibition
Stand’ award by the event organisers FHG, in
recognition of the innovation and quality of the
company’s stand.
- Work is now complete on the N86 Lispole
Bridge contract in County Kerry. Emtek provided
our EN: 1317 approved Protect 365 N2 Bridge
Parapets as part of this important upgrade
scheme. The work scope involved specialist
retro-fit anchors being installed and new
parapet railings, spread over 3 site visits.
- Installation of our N2 Vetex Safety Barrier
in Portadown, Co. Armagh is progressing well.
Working night and weekend shifts on the upgrade
of old safety barrier for the DRD Roads Service
has minimised traffic disruption and enabled the
works to be completed on a tight schedule, work
on this national route is due to complete by the
end of the month.

years Road Expo & Civilex show in Dublin. Being
held at the RDS Hall on March 5th & 6th we will
be showcasing our extensive range of products
and in particular presenting a technical seminar
on our new Ultracrete Streestscape systems.

- Installation of our Pedestrian Guard Rails
is on-going on DBFO 1, Belfast. This contract
involves the provision of over 2 kilometres of
PGR and is one of the largest contracts of its
type currently in Ireland. Designed to BS: 7818
and manufactured under our quality controlled
production team, this modular product is ideal
for large scale projects requiring fast-track
installation.

- Our new Storm Water Attenuation systems have
been launched with seminars throughout the
month. Our innovative steel load bearing tanks
offer cost effective solutions at a time when
the impact of changing environmental conditions
are at the forefront of construction design and
planning.
- We have passed our annual quality audit this
month, ISO 9001:2000. This entailed two auditors
over 2 days, reviewing our site installation
teams, manufacturing processes and company
quality management systems. Emtek has a strong
commitment to quality and an on-going policy of
innovation and development of our systems.
- Work has begun on the prestigious new
Victoria Terminal 4 scheme in Belfast Harbour.
Emtek are providing the Safety Barriers along
the access roads, Parapets on the HSS and RORO
ramps and Pedestrian Guard Rails for the
walkways around the main car park. Work will
continue into late spring.
